Thanks for reporting this bug and helping to make Ubuntu and OpenOffice better. Two questions:
What was the last version that had this feature?
Does export as XHTML/HTML a good enough feature for this?

We're closing this bug since it is has been some time with no response from the original reporter. However, if the issue still exists please feel free to reopen with the requested information. Also, if you could, please test against the latest development version of Ubuntu, since this confirms the bug is one we may be able to pass upstream for help.

I am still using amd64, but now I am using Ubuntu 10.04 with:
OpenOffice 3.2.0
OOO320m12 (Build:9483)
ooo-build 3.2.0.10, Debian 1:3.2.0-7ubuntu4.1, Thu Jun 3 01:58:3

When I:
1.) Open OpenOffice Presentation (New Presentation)
2.) File -> Save -> Type
3.) There is no way for me to rip the text out of the presentation by saving in a *.txt format.

Please add this format in the next version of OpenOffice; I don't know where it was dropped or if it was dropped by accident.

This seems like a valid request to me and is still a problem with LibreOffice 3.3.
Perhaps you could file the bug with the upstream developers at https://bugs.freedesktop.org//enter_bug.cgi?product=LibreOffice

[This is an automated message.]
There are no new official OpenOffice.org releases in Ubuntu packaging anymore => Won't Fix

If the problem persists, please mark this bug as "also affects project Libreoffice" or "also affects distribution Libreoffice (Ubuntu)" if that has not happened already.

Please leave references to upstream OpenOffice.org bugs in place to allow cross pollination.

This is:
- a clearcut upstream issue
- wishlist/feature request unlikely to be fixable with a simple patch
- wont be fixed in libreoffice packaging
Resolving as WONTFIX in libreoffice packaging. This does not mean the issue will not be cared about, but if it is cared about (even by Ubuntu/Canonical contributors), it is done upstream at LibreOffice.

Libreoffice (Ubuntu) => WONTFIX

Please file a bug at https://bugs.freedesktop.org/ against Libreoffice.

Libreoffice => INCOMPLETE (missing upstream bug)
