Bug Description

Binary package hint: debian-installer

Attempted to install Lucid using ubuntu-10.04-rc-dvd-i386.iso onto Asus M5200N laptop.

The Text Mode Installer fails when installing the bootloader: "The grub-pc package failed to install into /target/".

The button on the text screen allowed me to view the installation menu and I tried to install the LILO bootloader, which failed with the message: "/sbin/lilo failed with error code '1'"

Please note, I am using the text mode installer because the graphical installer freezes with black screen, and I am unable to switch to a VT, the power button does not respond. This is probably the Xorg Bug #511001 or similar.

I have verified the DVD contents with md5sum.
