Bug Description

Binary package hint: network-manager

Distribution: Ubuntu 6.06 (dapper)
Package: NetworkManager
Severity: critical
Version: GNOME2.14.3 unspecified
Gnome-Distributor: Ubuntu
Synopsis: rt61 driver freezes networking on login & WEP must be set to ASCI for ra0 to come up
Bugzilla-Product: NetworkManager
Bugzilla-Component: general
Bugzilla-Version: unspecified
Description:
Description of Problem:
Ubuntu 6.06 recognizes the rt61 driver as ra0 but line #103 must be
comment out in /etc/network/if-pre-up.d/wireless-tools, otherwise on
boot up bringing up network devices hangs. Once looged in any attempt to
bring up ra0 freezes the terminal.

Once line #103 is comment out ra0 will not come up by itself, network
settings must be used to choose ASCI encryption with no key inserted and
then ra0 will come up.

Steps to reproduce the problem:
1. Install Canyon WF511 card
2. Install Ubuntu 6.06 and boot up, configure networking.
3. Reboot

Actual Results:
Freeze, then manual ifup ra0 needed with ASCI selected.

Expected Results:
Boot up and networking is up by itself.

How often does this happen?
Everytime

This is not an issue with NetworkManager but rather with wireless-tools. Reassigning appropriately.
