Should i do anything more after instaliation to make it work?

Same here. I have GAJ working correctly but no integration with Docky. I also get a blank window when selecting Journal from the right click menu. Both helpers are active and show running.

Docky: 2.1.0 r1302
Zeitgeist: 0.3.3.1

The ZG guys requested a merge to the zg helper, so I'm guessing they broke it.

Try out rev 1304 which I just pushed. This merges in Seif's zeitgeist fixes and might fix it for you.

Still having the same problem even after adding the docky ppa. Right clicking on any docky icon gives me a journal button which in turn gives me a blank pinkish window.

I'm running a fresh install of lucid with the docky ppa, altough it wasn't working with the stock install either.

This isnt a problem with Docky. If you have the link in the menu, then we are doing everything we can.

This is a bug with ZG or a misconfiguration of ZG on your part. Either way, we can't help you.

Robert,

Thanks for the quick reply.

I installed Zeitgeist from the official ubuntu rep. and it works just fine otherwise (no errors reported in the terminal, and GAJ works perfectly as well), so I'm wondering what else I can check / do. can I somehow run docky helpers from the terminal to find out what's going on?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Nati

We redirect the output of all helpers to Docky's output, so any messages from the helpers should be showing up there.

There was a bug where this was not happening - I believe the fix has not been released but if you are using our PPA you would have this fix.

Accepted docky into lucid-proposed, the package will build now and be available in a few hours. Please test and give feedback here. See https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation how to enable and use -proposed. Thank you in advance!

Martin,

Tried the new proposed version, but clicking on journal still gives an empty pinkish window.
ran "docky -d", but no error messages come up for journal.

Then I tried running "zeitgeist-daemon --replace" and THEN ran "docky -d" again:

this time I got an error from docky when clicking on "journal" on any of the dock icons:
"
[Error 21:14:21.679] [Helper] zeitgeist_journal.py :: Error from Zeitgeist engine:
org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.ServiceUnknown: The name :1.104 was not provided by any .service files
"

So it seems the something about the dbus interface isn't working, but "1.104" doesn't tell me that much.

Any further advice would be greatly appreciated, glad to help testing.

OK.

After upgrading to zeitgeist 0.4, GAJ 0.34 and docky 2.10 through the PPA's, everything seems to work.

Thanks for the help and the awesome software :)

I have encountered the same problem regarding docky integration of zeitgeist (running on Lucid). I use the latest docky available via PPA (2.2.0~bzr1825-0ubuntu1~10.04~dockycore1), and also the latest zeitgeist ppa. The integration used to work sometime back, but I don't what update(s) triggered this problem. I have also noticed that gnome-activity-journal doesn't give any output (the window goes 'gray' and stays like that till I do a 'force-quit'). These are really great apps, and any suggestions to correct this problem would be appreciated. Thanks.

Sounds like you upgraded zeitgeist and broke things. Their API is not stable, so if you upgrade it you do so at the risk of breaking integration with other apps. We can't help you, please talk to them for support of their product.
