Bug Description
I'm currently using Ubuntu Lucid with the proprietary 195.36.15-0ubuntu2 nvidia drivers. With plymouth installed, and the boot options configured correctly ("ro quiet splash") the splash works, but appears very late in the boot process, appearing for only half a second before gdm starts.
I have legacy GRUB. In between the "grub loading" message and the short-lived splash, most of the boot process is only shown as the grub message "Boot from (hd0,0) ext4 <uuid>" -- which would be replaced with boot messages if Ubuntu is booted without "quiet".
This is unlike the process on my laptop with Intel 965 mobile graphics, in which the splash displays immediately for the length of the pre-gdm boot process.
Assigning to plymouth.
