Bug Description

I'm using Ubuntu 10.04 RC on my EeePC 1000H, and I'm having this issue when I have two user accounts logged in and I'm currently using one of them. Then I try to simply switch from account to another, and the system freezes between desktop and login screen (when the screen goes black when logging out) and it doesn't respond to any commands anymore.

Hi,

I have the same problem. When I use Fast User Switching the screen goes black and I only see my harddisk light flicker. I am using 10.04 RC on my HP dv7 with an ATI Radeon HD 4500.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. This bug did not have a package associated with it, which is important for ensuring that it gets looked at by the proper developers. You can learn more about finding the right package at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage. I have classified this bug as a bug in xorg.

When reporting bugs in the future please use apport, either via the appropriate application's "Help -> Report a Problem" menu or using 'ubuntu-bug' and the name of the package affected. You can learn more about this functionality at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ReportingBugs.

Please execute the following command, as it will automatically gather debugging information, in a terminal:

apport-collect 570064

This will help us to find and resolve the problem. Bear in mind that you may need to install the python-launchpadlib package from the universe repository. Additionally, when prompted to give apport-collect permissions for Launchpad you will need to give it at least the ability to "Change Non-Private" data as it will be adding information to your bug report. Thanks in advance!

This might be a dupe of bug #546578. Can anyone confirm that this is a separate issue? Does it still persist after the latest gnome-screensaver update (2.30.0-0ubuntu2)?

Same things happens to me using a Samsung N150. I have 2 users. This issue never happens when logging out from the user account setup during the install process. This issue happens every time when logging out of the second user account created after the install process was completed.

Dave, I think you might have a different problem since you report different symptoms. Please file a new report with "ubuntu-bug consolekit".
