Bug Description

Binary package hint: plymouth-theme-ubuntu-logo

For nvidia driver users, the plymouth boot theme is oversized and a password prompt overruns the screen, making it difficult to follow password entry.

The same is true of plymouth-theme-kubuntu-logo.

I attach a snapshot of the kubuntu (plymtoobig.png), but the exact same appearance occurs on the ubuntu. The ubuntu theme is more difficult to photo, since it's real dark and my lcd reflection affects the camera, so I've attached the kubuntu theme pic instead.

It would be great to revise the theme, so the words and password entry box were visible and not cut off.

OK, here's a cropped version of the full size photo. See if it's clear enough. It's plycutoff.jpg

This is not a bug in the plymouth theme, it's a bug in how your system's firmware chooses to render a 640x480 VGA display on your widescreen display. Sorry, nothing to be done here, we can't fix this without having a better kernel framebuffer to write to, which the nvidia binary driver won't give us.
