Bug Description

Binary package hint: ubuntu-docs

I am running a ibm MT-M 8142-KUZ unmodified. I am on the new beta version 10.4 Lucid Lynx. I just updated the software last night. i have used other ubuntu versions on this computer w/o problems. Anyway, this is the case of the vanishing browser. The firefox version 3.6.3
The computer was just started. I waited a few moments for the cursor to settle down with all those spinning rotations. Default is Google.com Once it did settle down, i went to yahoo.com using my history tabs on the top (where the down arrow is). The browser went tot he site and then after a few moments disappeared. It was no where to be found. I had to restart my mozilla firefox browser all over again. I think this might be a bug.

This could be a bug with firefox not ubuntu-docs (which is the documentation packages for Ubuntu). It looks like you havent giving enough info for the developers to fix and I cant reproduce the bug on my machine. Id say its something wrong with a plugin.

affects: ubuntu-docs (Ubuntu) → firefox (Ubuntu)

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, we cannot work on this bug without some more information. If you can do the following two things for us, we will have a better understanding of the issue. First, please run the following command in a terminal:

apport-collect 569486

This will automatically add information about your system to this report so we can more easily determine the cause of this bug. Bear in mind that you may need to install the python-launchpadlib package from the universe repository. Additionally, when prompted to give apport-collect permissions for Launchpad you will need to give it at least the ability to "Change Non-Private" data as it will be adding information to your bug report.

Second, can you please run Firefox in the terminal using just the 'firefox' command, then paste the output in a comment after Firefox "disappears"? Thanks in advance!

Sometimes Firefox profiles can become corrupt. Could you please try this with a new profile and see if the problem still exists? You do not need to delete your old profile to test. If this helps, you might want to try to disable all your extensions and re-enable them one by one until you find the problematic one.

You can start the profile manager with the following command:
firefox -ProfileManager

There have been many changes in Ubuntu since that time you reported the bug and your problem may have been fixed with some of the updates. It would help us a lot if you could test the current Ubuntu development version (10.10). If you can test it, and it is still an issue, we would appreciate if you could upload updated logs by running apport-collect 569486, and any other logs that are relevant for this particular issue.
