Bug Description
Binary package hint: kdebase-workspace
Latest Ubuntu 9.10.
Having configured kdm as not the default display manager (using dpkg-reconfigure kdm, and setting another manager, e.g. gdm), kdm still starts on initial system boot(!).
This is reliably the case, and causes problems when gdm attempts to start in the boot process, and finds an X instance already running, resulting in the dialog display on a terminal of "X appears to be running on VT 7 already - would you like to start gdm anyway?" [text inexact, have not looked]
All that's required is that kdm be installed - it never has to have been set as the default display manager for this to happen, just be installed.
