Bug Description

Binary package hint: xorg

Hello,

I have been trying to make this work but for some reasons I can't. I had to install the latest 2.6.33 kernel in order to solve some issues with the i3 and also to support the TRIM on ssd.

The motherboard is a Gigabyte h57 with Clarkdale i3 processor (and on board video). The TV it's an old TV Toshiba 42WLG66 which is max resolution is 1080i.

I tried to force the ModeLine with a xorg.conf file but with same results.

I know also that this "video card" is only supported with intel drivers 2.10 and even better with the latest ones 2.11. Currently Ubuntu delivers 2.9 ones. I tried a ppa package several times which broke my all installation with no more LAN (so for a HDTV PC quite annoying:) )

Any idea or issue spotted?

Many thanks
XabiX

here is the log linked to the xorg.conf file attached previously.

What I d like understand is if there is any benefit of waiting for some patches already in the pipe, or if this issue is linked to a bug or if it's a configuration problem.

Many thanks in advance

Hello,

I have discovered that the interlace mode has been developped and just released.

More information available in this thread:
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=11220

"Now the interlace is added in the latest Eric's drm-intel-next tree. Will you please help to test whether it can work for you? The drm-intel-next tree can be obtained by using the following command:
   1. git clone git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/anholt/drm-intel.git
   2. git branch -r
   3. git checkout -b origin/drm-intel-next"

Can this be included in the xorg-edgers releases?
for example on top of 2:2.11.0+git20100606.b586624d-0ubuntu0sarvatt~lucid

Thanks

Hello,

Is this confirmed to be supported on Maverick as Bryce H. added the maverick tag?

The maverick tag means that the bug exists on Maverick.

Is this working now on Oneiric? What about on Precise beta 1?

If it's still not working, there is a patch in the just-released 3.3 kernel to add EDID support for CEA video modes. Several people have reported gaining additional, much wanted modes. A PPA of this kernel is available at http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/
