Bug Description

After upgrade from karmic server to lucid server. When booting into 2.6.32, the server will hang randomly, console will printout
"INFO: XXX task hung for more than 120 seconds"

This happen once when I run sysctl -p, but randomly later in several reboots, it seems the scheduler have some serious problem.

When I boot into 2.6.31, everything works fine.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Please execute the following command, as it will automatically gather debugging information, in a terminal:

apport-collect 568166

This will help us to find and resolve the problem. Bear in mind that you may need to install the python-launchpadlib package from the universe repository. Thanks in advance!

Additionally, it'd be helpful if you were to obtain a dmesg containing the crash.

I have hp pavilion zv5000 notebook Lucid installed on it. I've installed Licid from Alfa and it behaved itself in this way from the very beginning, I mean sudden hung-ups, but I thought it was some sort of childhood disease. Also I had a hard drive full of torrents and thought it help to hang up system. But now system is issued and my disk is free of large torrent files but hung ups happen.
I noticed that Java hung ups system, some sort of web pages with great number of applets in Opera and, especially jDownloader. Hope it would help you to get rid of it prior then I reinstall Windows :-)
