Bug Description

Using Lucid Lynx with proprietary Nvidia device drivers.

Xserver runs at the native screen resolution for the monitor.
GRUB2 and Plymouth does not.
Everything should run in the same resolution, the native resolution.

Instead of GRUB and Plymouth run at 640x480x8 and X at 1920x1200x32.

The transition from GRUB to Plymouth to X should be as smooth and uniform as possible.

Not a bug in plymouth as it relies on KMS for the splash resoultion which isn't supported by the proprietary nvidia drivers. (Possible dup of bug 565980 ?).

affects: plymouth (Ubuntu) → nvidia-graphics-drivers (Ubuntu)

As far as GRUB goes, we'd like to do this but it will require very extensive upstream development work, so don't hold your breath too much.

We will not be doing this work for GRUB Legacy. Consider it effectively static now.
