Bug Description

Binary package hint: nvidia-current

Number #1: I cannot install nvidia with Jockey! Nothing is listed!

Thus, I install with Synaptic. And Synaptic claims it's successful. Thus, I now reboot.

Now, I open up nvidia-settings and this is what I get:

You do not appear to be using the NVIDIA X driver. Please edit your X configuration file (just run `nvidia-xconfig` as root), and restart the X server.

Then I see this with glxinfo:

Lubuntu "Lucid Lynx" beta 2.

Cannot get 3D with Nvidia, even when the GeForce 9500 GT has been fine is previous versions!

This is utterly a regression!

If it does not show up in jockey that means you have uninstalled nvidia-common in the past which is not a regression. Please install nvidia-common, then activate nvidia-current in hardware drivers and it will be fixed. I'm closing this as invalid, but if you have further problems feel free to reopen it and run apport-collect 568016 from a terminal to attach the related logs to this bug.

Changed in nvidia-graphics-drivers (Ubuntu):
status: New → Invalid

HI Robert,
we have Kernel 2.6.34.xx installed and via apt-get upgrade we installed the latest driver for the nvidia card 9600 GT
but we can not start the visual effects at all and the nvidia driver is not installed.
I think this is a solid problem with the Lucid release. Any idea ?
