Bug Description

https://launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/dapper/+source/apt/+pots/apt/ga/22/+translate shows that in apt there is a string that consists only of variables, and no hint as to what it is for.

The string should have a translation hint so that translators know whether they need to do anything with it.

If that's a bug, it's in the application. But usually, as there are more than one variable, I guess they are set to translate because depending on the language the order could change.

Also, such messages should probably contain translator comment (which would also be application bug), so you can ask for it.

This is used to generate a list of packages and should need no translations, but to see it in action run 'apt-cache policy''

Thanks for your bugreport.

(and thanks Dereck for the patch!). I commited a fix to bzr but I decided to remove the _() getext entirely for this string as no translation has used this AFAICS.

Adi, there are some templates from apt source package still in import
queue needs review, may be that could solve this problem?

The import queue is somehow ok. See Bug #446277

Looking at the apt.pot file from the source package I can see that the message from line 149 „ %4i %s\n” still does not have any comment.

I have attached the apt.pot file generate durring the source package build from apt-0.7.23.1ubuntu1
