Bug Description

Binary package hint: mountall

the /lap filesystem is not getting mounted.

I have hacked tty6.conf to start on startup so i could login, and if i just issue mount /lap it mounts just fine and all the signals propagate and the boot continues.

The manual intervention happend just after "Setting up ICE socket directory"

There is no try_udev_device line in your debug log for laplv, this implies that LVM has not set this device up and the underlying devmapper devices have not been created and/or announced by the kernel/udev

affects: mountall (Ubuntu) → lvm2 (Ubuntu)

Could you attach /var/log/udev from this boot?

Hi!

On may laptop, I do an sulogin by pressing 'M' when I get the notice about a FS not being mounted due to the BOREDOM_TIMEOUT.

I login (I have set the root password BTW), do an ls on /dev/<LVM_volume_name>. Symlinks for the LVs are there, and lvscan says the volumes are activated. This is on kernel.org kernel 2.6.33.2.

A 'mount -a' mounts everything, I 'exit' sulogin shell, and full boot then proceeds with no more problems.

Here is my boot.log, skipping all falied mounts as pressing 'M' , doing an sulogin, mount -a seemed to wipe it? I couldn't find the debug output in that boot.log. Please also note that udev does seem to be doing its job. Symlinks from /dev/<LVM_volume_group> are being created to the appropriate dev mapper devices.

Hey folks,

I have a random hunch on this one. In my PPA you'll find a new mountall
package, could you try it out and see whether it makes things better or
worse?

  sudo add-apt-repository ppa:scott/ppa
  sudo apt-get update
  sudo apt-get upgrade

Check you have mountall 2.14~ppa1

  dpkg-query -W mountall

Then reboot

Thanks,

Scott
