Bug Description

Binary package hint: openoffice.org

Hi All,

I came across this issue while use OOo 3.1.1, OOO310M19 (Build 9420). So far, the issue occurs when I use the function for the chi-square distribution (=chisqdist). When I save the spreadsheet then open it up later the cell calling for that func now has the string '%MACRO' in it. Sometimes I can only clear the issue by deleting the cell and starting over other times I can clear the error by deleting the the equal sign and retyping it.

I went to OOo and put this issue into their bug reporting system and got a message back saying that my OOo (build 9420) is fine 'it must be your Ubuntu' causing the problem. So here I am.

I am attaching the email I got from OOo.
HTH
Matt

Hi Matt,

you have written to my personal email address. Please add your comment
to the issue.

Your problem is likely a bug in the Ubuntu version. Please report the
problem to Ubuntu. I have not heard from others using ODF1.2, that there
are problems with this function.

kind regards
Regina

Handling of CHIDIST has changed from ODF 1.1 to ODF 1.2. Which format do you
use? You find the setting in Tools > Options > Load/Save > General.

Or do you use CHISQDIST? This left tail version is not available in ODF1.1.

Do you use an original OOo version or do you use a version from your Linux provider?

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Please execute the following command, as it will automatically gather debugging information, in a terminal:

apport-collect 567882

This will help us to find and resolve the problem. Bear in mind that you may need to install the python-launchpadlib package from the universe repository. Additionally, when prompted to give apport-collect permissions for Launchpad you will need to give it at least the ability to "Change Non-Private" data as it will be adding information to your bug report. Thanks in advance!

When reporting bugs in the future please use apport, either via the appropriate application's "Help -> Report a Problem" menu or using 'ubuntu-bug' and the name of the package affected. You can learn more about this functionality at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ReportingBugs.

Hi P,
Sorry I have been too busy to get back to you in a timely manner.

So the problem now stands as follows:
I found out that OOo had 3.2 and uninstalled 3.1 and installed 3.2 hoping that this would fix the issue. Unfortunately it did not. I have opened up the spreadsheet that I made using 3.1 Calc and the same issue shows up for 3.2. I am starting to think it is either the way 3.1 writes its files for Calc or something (easily) beyond my comprehension ;). I would like to send you the .xls file that contains the error.

Would that be helpful for you, See attached,
M
