Bug Description

When pressing '(' to get a completion proposal Eclipse crashes. From my findings it seems like Cairo is to blame. Here is the error message:

The program 'Eclipse' received an X Window System error.
This probably reflects a bug in the program.
The error was 'RenderBadPicture (invalid Picture parameter)'.
  (Details: serial 67005 error_code 158 request_code 148 minor_code 7)
  (Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously;
that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it.
To debug your program, run it with the --sync command line
option to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful
backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.)

And here are the relevant bugs in Eclipse and Debian:

http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=571192
https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=309718

I hope you get the time to fix this before Lucid goes LTS.

yes, did you? the way they fixed it is

" * debian/control:
+ Add Breaks for xulrunner and iceape until they're fixed"

ie they force a new xulrunner to be installed, they didn't do any cairo code change, which indicates the issue is a xulrunner one

Ah, obviously not. Odd that they even mentioned that the new package fixed the issue. Oh well.. feel free to close this issue.

This issue is maybe not about cairo but, still, Eclipse is crashing (i.e. unusable) with Ubuntu Lucid. So instead of closing this issue, it should maybe be reassigned to the "right" project (as there is something wrong somewhere).

Note that this might be a duplicate of https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/eclipse/+bug/567419 (which is tagged amd64 but also occurs on my 32-bit machine).
