Bug Description

As part of the RTL customization I checked Adi Roiban's site to see whether the Hebrew interface of the slideshow looks fine
Apparently the icon on the top right corner (appears to the left in the western localized interface) does not appear at all

Link to the demonstration:
http://l10n.ubuntu.tla.ro/ubuntu-lucid-slideshow/ubuntu/slides/index.html#?controls?locale=he?rtl

When I change the URL and replace the RTL with LTR the icon looks just fine but the interface is flipped:

Kind regards,
Yaron Shahrabani - Hebrew translator

Hi Yaron,

This isn't really a bug. The slideshow looks for a file that is not there on the web server you are viewing it from, but is present on your local system while you are installing Ubuntu. (That latter case is the only one we are building towards, hence the fixed dimensions and positioning by pixels).

As for why the Firefox one is different, bug #421864 has some history :)

Oh, wait, now I see. Sorry, I assumed you meant that the Firefox icon in particular was missing. (That bug gets filed all the time and I jumped to the conclusion way too quickly).

I see now that this is just Firefox rendering the page differently from Webkit. Again, though, this project is specifically targeting Webkit but it's nice to keep it working in Firefox so people can test this!

It appears Firefox is just a tad more aggressive with elements that have direction:rtl. In its case, the entire slideshow container is pushed to the right (where Webkit leaves it aligned to the left). Should be easy to solve :)

Oh, here's a workaround for you in the mean while: Try resizing your Firefox window so it's the same width as the slideshow.

The redesign came with better support for normal browsers, so this shouldn't happen any more. (Tested with Firefox 3 & 4 and Chromium).
