Bug Description
After update from linux-image-
Normal operation with kernel version -20: normal splash screen with prompt for decrypt root fs (i am using dm-crypt/luks), then GDM and etc.
Wrong operation with kernel version -21: deformed splash screen with prompt for decrypt (see screenshot), then (after successful root fs decrypt) computer freeze totally - screen is black (backlight is on) keyboard is not responding (Caps, Num, Scroll lock), no harddisk activity, etc. I must turn it of with hw power switch.
I tried to start without quiet and splash kernel boot parameters - system froze during transition between text and graphical mode. Disable KMS with nomodeset kernel boot parameter did not change anything.
Unfortunately, there are no records written into log files during unsuccessful boot.

This bug was reported against the linux-meta package when it likely should have been reported against the linux package instead. We are automatically transitioning this to the linux kernel package so that the appropriate teams are notified and made aware of this issue.
If this bug really is a bug in the linux-meta package you can move it back to linux-meta and tag it kj-linux-meta, or contact us on the #ubuntu-kernel channel on the FreeNode IRC server. Thanks.
