Binary package hint: gnome-power-manager

The indicator shows that the battery is almost empty, however the context menu claims that the "Laptop Battery is Charged". Please see screenshot as reference.

FYI: Now, with a fully charged battery, when unplugging the AC power cable, the indicator applet remains silent and does not inform me that the battery is discharging (like it used to do a few days ago); it only statically displays the message that the "Laptop battery is charged".

On a side note, I don't know why Launchpad created bug #567337, which is a copy of this one here. Guess that was because of a Launchpad time-out while submitting the original bug.

This behavior does seem to be intermittent - just now the removal of the AC power cord triggered the expected message of "Laptop battery x hours x minutes left".

I would like to add that the power indicator intermittently (more often than not, actually) insist that I am on AC power, as if I am on a desktop machine, rather than a laptop. However, since I am on a laptop I would expect to see the battery symbol 100% of the time, indicating either that the battery is discharging or being charged. I, however, would not expect to see the symbol for constant AC power at all.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. A new version of GNOME Power Manager is available on Maverick and we are wondering if this bug is still an issue for you with that version? Could you please test and comment back? Thanks in advance.

I have the same problem under ubuntu 10.10

When unplugging the cable, and a fully charged battery, the indicator shows a sign that indicates about 10% left.

Freshly installed, new laptop (one week old). The information was correct the few first days.

cat /proc/acpi/battery/BAT0/state & info indicate proper information
