Binary package hint: pidgin

Has set for google talk a variety of ways found in others advice, yet I'm never authorized no matter what. same with facebook.

Note, if I set the 'Connect server' (on the advanced tab) to: talk.google.com

I am successfully able to connect. I suspect that the Google Talk protocol plugin for Pidgin should default this setting so that individual users to not need to do this.

Setting the Connect server is also required for people using 'Google Apps for Domains' with pidgin.

There have been many changes in Ubuntu since that time you reported the bug and your problem may have been fixed with some of the updates.
