Subpixel smoothing should default to Full Hinting

Binary package hint: fontconfig

Subpixel smoothing is currently the default rendering option. It defaults to Slight Hinting which is really ugly. It should default to Full Hinting instead.

I have reassigned this issue to gnome-control-center instead of fontconfig. BTW, Hinting Slight works fine for my display :) , any way, please could you attach some screenshots for seeing comparations for these options under your system? Thanks

"It defaults to Slight Hinting which is really ugly. It should default to Full Hinting instead." is a matter of personal opinion - I find that full hinting looks ugly on all of my displays, so I'm not sure that's a valid reason to request that the default be changed

Indeed, thanks for the link. This has already been discussed before, and the situation hasn't changed. If you want to suggest that the default be changed, you should discuss that on a mailing list or open an idea on brainstorm
