Bug Description

Binary package hint: gnuplot

I'm using gnuplot(4.2.5)+octave (3.3.51+) to display some image data. The value +infinity gets the same color than -infinity. I filed a bug report with the Octave developers here
https://www-old.cae.wisc.edu/pipermail/bug-octave/2010-March/010543.html
The problem persists with gnuplot 4.2 patchlevel 6, but goes away if a more recent version of gnuplot is used.

In my case, I just compiled the most recent version of gnuplot (gnuplot 4.5 patchlevel 0) and found that the problem is gone. Obviously, the problem is already fixed in gnuplot, but not in Ubuntu (9.10). And it seems that 10.04 includes only gnuplot 4.2.6, which does not fix the problem.

Update gnuplot to a more recent version fixes the problem.
