Bug Description

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-nouveau

I have two NVIDIA Geforce 8800 GTX cards installed, with one monitor (my main one; a large widescreen monitor placed in the middle) attached to the first card, and two more monitors attached to the second card and placed to the left and right of the main monitor.

Ubuntu only recognizes the main monitor. The other two remain turned off and there is no way to activate them. When I go to System -> Preferences -> Monitors only the main monitor is listed, even after I click on Detect Monitors.

Ubuntu should recognize the other two monitors as well and allow me to use them. Windows Vista has no problem with this. It recognized and used all monitors automatically.

I can't install the NVIDIA proprietary driver to see if the monitors are recognized by that driver because of a bug in jockey (see bug 564909).

I too have this issue. Twin GeForce 7600GT cards, only the first one is recognised. 4 monitors, two on each card (3 x DVI, 1 x VGA), only the two DVI monitors come on and are recognised in Xorg.0.log. No reference to the other card at all.

Nvidia drivers work fine.
