Bug Description

I am using Avant Window Navigator 0.4.0 on ubuntu karmic.. intellihide is working for me except in one case.. i think it does not respect fullscreen applications at all.. the problem arises when:

1. when i watch a video in fullscreen mode vlc.. when i move my mouse to the bottom of the screen, the vlc controls should pop up.. but now, both the vlc controls and awn pops up.. actually awn controls pop up below vlc controls so i have no problem in accessing vlc controls.. but it is really annoying..

2. when i am viewing a webpage or a video in fullscreen mode in firefox[using F11 key].. i don't want to view awn when i bring my mouse to the bottom of the screen.. but awn pops up when i do so..

docky 2 also has the intellihide feature and it respects fullscreen applications and works exactly as we expect.. docky don't have these issues.. please look into this issue..

Sorry, I have different opinion, I actually like that Awn is brought to front of fullscreen app, when using for example virtual machine which doesn't have guest additions, it's very easy and convenient way to switch for the VM, but I understand that this could be frustrating especially when playing games.

We'll need to handle this somehow in future versions, for now you can set Autohide mode to Transparency with that Awn won't get in front of fullscreen windows.

milestone: none → 0.4.2

In my opinion Awn should not display itself in fullscreen app. The whole point of fullscreen is, I think, you only care about that particular application. Add some backend setting, or a setting awn-settings.......

I also think there should be a new setting regarding Intellihide's behavior with full screen applications. For example when viewing a clip in full screen with smplayer moving the mouse to the lower part of the screen should display the floating control of smplayer (currently awn appears). I posted a screenshot here: http://i38.tinypic.com/w0qqlw.png
Or at least the default behavior should be changed to not appear over full screen apps.

There's a workaround for this, so setting prio to Low.

It's worth mentioning that this only happens with compiz enabled (I have compiz 0.8.6). When using metacity awn does NOT popup over fullscreen windows. I tried enabling the workaround "Legacy fullscreen support" in Compiz but that didn't help.

Actually it would be so easy to solve this problem. Just make the opacity in see-through autohide mode 0. I just want to add, that having the dock popping up every time one hits the bottom of the screen, totall affects the workflow, especially with applications mainly controlled by the mouse.. in my case Bibble5. I understand that for surfing, reading or coding the current behaviour isn't much of a problem, but with graphical tools it's quite annoying. Also I believe there are so much more possibilities to switch between windows other than through the dock.
