Bug Description
Binary package hint: plymouth
Ubuntu boots in about 9 seconds for me.
Plymouthd gets started at second 5.
Plymouth gets started at around second 6.
Xorg gets started at around second 7.
So for at least 5 seconds I see only a black screen.
For less than 3-4 seconds does I see the splash screen.
I see the splash screen for less than half of the time Ubuntu is booting.
Plymouth starts too late. Plymouth needs to get started earlier.

same problem, Nvidia Drivers, Ubuntu 11.04 64bits, Ubuntu boots in 8 or less seconds and only I can see a black screen
At shutdown I can see the plymouth screen for 2 seconds (that the time my PC take to shutdown)
on my netbook take longer to boot but plymouth start too late and I can only see the last few seconds.
