Bug Description

Even though electricsheep (2.6.8-1ubuntu1) is installed on my system (running edgy) it doesn't show up in the gnome-screensaver dialog.

I also added gnome-screensaver as an affected package, as I am not sure the problem is with electricsheep or gnome-screensaver.

gnome-screensaver expects now the desktop files for the screensavers in /usr/share/applications/screensavers/ and electricsheep installs it in /usr/share/gnome-screensaver/themes/ (the old location).

Here's a debdiff that probably fixes the problem. I didn't touch the KDE stuff - I hope nothing has changed there.

The gnome-screensaver task should be rejected unless there is something that can be done to help the transition (i.e. make it look in /usr/share/gnome-screensaver/themes as well )

Any chance of this being fixed in time before edgy release??? I really miss my sheep ;-)

Did this make it into edgy?

The fix did not make it into Edgy. You have to

mv
/usr/share/gnome-screensaver/themes/electricsheep.desktop /usr/share/applications/screensavers/electricsheep.desktop

Also, to fix bug #2379 you must edit /usr/share/applications/screensavers/electricsheep.desktop

Change the line:

Exec=electricsheep --root 1

to

Exec=electricsheep --root 1 --zoom 1

After all this it likely still won't work due to bug #5823. At a terminal you can fix 5823 by substituting --root 1 with --mplayer 1, but this doesn't work in the .desktop file.

After looking at that debdiff it looks like it would do the job perfectly for this bug.

If an MOTU sees this, please take care of bug 2379 at the same time. It's the second half of Brian's comment.
