Libdvdcss2 must not be updated on Hardy Heron, otherwise it won't work any longer

but I was told to post it here by one, who replied. So here I go translating:

After playing around quite sometime, I finally succeeded to get the Buddenbrook-DVD running on Ubuntu Hardy Heron.

Then there was a system update and it told, libdvdcss2 is outdated and I had the system updated. (spreoceled wheel symbol near the right upper corner of the screen). But after updated the system, I encountered the same problem (scrambled motion picture) with showing the DVD as I had initially.

I looked at the site, which had helped me solving this problem before.

and I found out, that the key commands were:

verwalter@ubuntu:~$ sudo apt-get install libdvdread3 gstreamer0.10-plugins-ugly
Paketlisten werden gelesen... Fertig
Abhängigkeitsbaum wird aufgebaut
Reading state information... Fertig
libdvdread3 ist schon die neueste Version.
gstreamer0.10-plugins-ugly ist schon die neueste Version.
0 aktualisiert, 0 neu installiert, 0 zu entfernen und 1 nicht aktualisiert.
verwalter@ubuntu:~$ sudo /usr/share/doc/libdvdread3/install-css.sh

Richte libdvdcss2 ein (1.2.5-1) ...
Processing triggers for libc6 ...
ldconfig deferred processing now taking place

My conclusion: on Hardy avoid upgrading libdvdcss2 if you want to stay happy with showing DVDs.

Hardy is EOL, so an update will not happen.
