Bug Description

Binary package hint: pm-utils

Description: Ubuntu lucid (development branch)
Release: 10.04
pm-utils:
  Installed: 1.3.0-1
  Candidate: 1.3.0-1
  Version table:
 *** 1.3.0-1 0
        500 http://gb.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ lucid/main Packages
        100 /var/lib/dpkg/status
By default the display is corrupt after resume from suspend using the (kde) suspend menu option.
Trying to mimic the settings that work on Ubuntu 8.04 using:
pm-suspend --quirk-vbe-post --quirk-vbemode-restore --quirk-vbestate-restore --quirk-dpms-suspend
results in identical behaviour.
The system otherwise seems to resume successfully.

This happens with 32bit ubuntu 10.10 on my Sony Vaio PCG-Z1RSP laptop too. ATI Radeon Mobility M6 LY graphics on PCI:1:0:0 using the "radeon" driver. It would be great to see a solution to this.

I can confirm this also applies to Dell lattitudes with Mobility Radeon M6 chips, if I remember correctly whilst unrelated around the time plymouth (happens on arch linux without plymouth too) was introduced to Kubuntu.

It does the same with radeondrmfb and KMS as any other ati driver except with KMS, when switching screens you get a glimpse of the console text and image scrolling vertically past the screen before the cursor going back to a vertical line as it does with all drivers.

This may be a pointer towards a fix.
