Bug Description

Say I have some related files to the task. Instead of attach to the task entry, I would like to be able to insert the link and simply open the file by click the link.

Tomboy has this function. Could GTG also has it?

I can confirm that typing in file:/// style links referencing local files does not work.

Please elaborate further on your concept for this feature, perhaps including screenshots, an example workflow for how a typical user would utilize it, and so forth. Remember, Keep It Simple since if development looks easy it's more likely to get implemented than if it is too blue sky.

summary: - link to local files and folders
+ Add support for local file:/// style links

I am an engineer doing research in academic institution. So here is my proposed workflow:

1) Open up GTG, find the related project. (See attached Fig. 1)

2) Click the link to the local folder to start working. (See attached Fig. 2)

3) Open up the local folder, which usually contains the spreadsheet (I dealt with data a lot) and a openoffice word file. (See attached Fig. 3)

4) The odt file itself can contain more links, thus I organize all my related information there. (See attached Fig. 4)

I think we can let this as Incomplete.

There's a proposed workflow and the idea is quite simple, add the ability to link a file.

The implementation could be very discret like just a file:// link, I think it should be nice for most of people. (And add a gtk filechooser to select files to add.)

We could also add an icon in the list of tasks view.

 Unsetting incomplete.

Hello everybody. I think that the way this branch tries to solve this problem is quite nice https://code.edge.launchpad.net/~chronitis/gtg/file-attach

[a bit off topic]
However, a nic*er* solution would be allow the TaskEditor to handle in a general way all the different kinds of uris we use.
This is quite of a refactoring, but consider we already handle:
- tasks(subtasks)
- tomboy notes
- tags
- urls
all in a different way. A unified way would be much nicer and easier for us to maintain and expand.

This should be part of a broader taskeditor refactoring that should happen for 0.4
