Bug Description

Summary:
Just a few days ago, after installing a new nightly build of Firefox or "Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; en-US; rv:1.9.2.4pre) Gecko/20100410 Ubuntu/9.10 (karmic) Namoroka/3.6.4pre"; Namoroka suddenly froze up upon attempting to load a web page.

After running "firefox -safe-mode" in the Terminal, I managed to narrow down the cause of the freezing to Ubuntu Firefox Modification 0.8.

After activating the said plugin, Firefox would freeze and turn grey a few seconds after attempting to load a webpage. I have tried this several times and am able to replicate the bug every time.

UPDATE: I have found out that Shockwave Flash 10.0.r45 is the main culprit, if it runs while loading a Flash site like YouTube. Ubuntu Firefox Modifications seems to cause the freezing behaviour even when the browser is only loading non-flash sites.

Steps to reproduce (a):
1. Enable Shockwave Flash 10.0.r45
2. Go to any site using flash (e.g. youtube.com)

Steps to reproduce (b)
1. Enable Shockwave Flash 10.0.r45
2. Enable Ubuntu Firefox Modification 0.8
3. Go to any site.

Expected Result:
Firefox running normally.

Actual result:
Namoroka freezes and turns grey. Only way to launch without freezing is to close any Flash page upon launching, or disabling Shockwave Flash 10.0.r45 via safe mode.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, we cannot work on this bug without some more information. Please run the following command in a terminal:

apport-collect 561637

This will automatically add information about your system to this report so we can more easily determine the cause of this bug. Bear in mind that you may need to install the python-launchpadlib package from the universe repository. Additionally, when prompted to give apport-collect permissions for Launchpad you will need to give it at least the ability to "Change Non-Private" data as it will be adding information to your bug report. Thanks in advance!

@Draycen DeCator

Hi. Thanks for the guide to use apport-collect. This is my first bug report, so I appreciate all the help I can get.

I just checked soon after reading your email whether or not the issue above still applies, and I am glad to say the daily build's of Namoroka seem to have resolved the issue themselves - as there have been no updates to the Ubufox or Flash plugin.

Unless there is a sudden re-occurrence, I would say there is no longer a bug as far as I am concerned.

Thanks for the update. I'm glad the issue has been resolved! This may have been due to known issues with Firefox not properly running Flash as a separate process, which was recently fixed. However, since we do not know for sure if that was the cause, I am going to mark this report Invalid. If you start having trouble again, feel free to return to this report and change the status to "New." Please continue to report any other issues that you encounter.
