Bug Description

Hi,
I use a laptop HP Compaq nw9440, and Ubuntu Dapper.

FIRST ISSUE
---------------
When I open one of the console with CTRL+ALT+F1/F6, I view nothing.
The screen is like turned off (completely black). I don't view the normal terminal input (nicola@cavergno:~$). No character interface and no interaction.
Only the graphical consol CTRL+ALT+F7 function well.

SECOND ISSUE
--------------------
When I logout and I will turn off my PC, I don't view the logout graphical messages. The screen is like turned off. The PC turn off correctly, but I can't view the normal messages.
Only when I turn on the PC I can view the normal boot graphical messages

I confirm that with the new boot system in Ubuntu Edgy these issues are resolved.
