Bug Description

Version: Ubuntu 10.04 Beta 2 (installed from Beta 1)

I installed the oxygen-cursor-theme, and in previous versions of Ubuntu, it would be become the system wide default cursor. Under 10.04, this does not happen. When I check under update-alternatives, however, it still listed as the auto default. The cursor theme that is being used id the DMZ White that is the normal Ubuntu default.

If I manually select Oxygen theme from the appearance menu, it will work, but it is still not the system default.

Since it is the auto default, I would expect it do be used as the system default as it was in 9.10 and before.

Hello
Is this problem present with the latest updated Lucid's or Maverick's packages?
Thanks in advance
Fabio

Yes, I just rechecked on a fairly fresh install of 10.10

Old Results:
1. "sudo apt-get install oxygen-cursor-theme"
2. {maybe reboot, I don't remember at this point}
3. oxygen-cursor-theme gets used as it is the auto default due to priority

10.04/10.10
1. "sudo apt-get install oxygen-cursor-theme"
2. reboot
3. still using DMZ-White
4. go to Appearance and customize theme to use Default Cursor
5. reboot
6. still using DMZ-White
7. run "sudo update-alternatives --config x-cursor-theme"
8. oxygen-white will be selected as the auto default but reselect as "0"
9. then oxygen-white will work as the default

Now maybe it shouldn't automatically become the default, but perhaps like installing gdm/kdm, when you install a new cursor theme (at least from the repos), it should ask what you want to make the default.
