Bug Description
Binary package hint: gdm
Bug 437429 described a problem where you could not disable the login sound. With the addition of "Play login sound" setting on Login Screen Settings in Lucid, that bug was Fixed Released. However, even when disabled, login still plays the musical sound. It appears as if gdm is simply ignoring this setting, as either checked or unchecked still plays the music when logging in.

Thank you for your bug report. The settings display the gdm sound which is played when the login screen is ready, to disable the login sound you want to disable the login sound for your user session (system, preferences, sounds) by turning the sound theme to no sound for example
