Bug Description

Binary package hint: evolution

I'm testing Lucid. I have Ubuntu One marked as default Address Book in Evolution. Unfortunately none of my contacts are synced from my Ubuntu One account. Can I somehow force this synchronisation?

mmiicc,
Just to understand what steps you have taken to initialize your address book, are these the steps you followed?

https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UbuntuOne/Tutorials/Contacts

Could you post the following log. Be aware this contains your consumer_secret and token_secret. Make sure these are obfuscated. If its not already you can use Gedits Find/Replace tool to replace the number with HiddenHiddenHidddenHiddenHidden.

~/.cache/desktop-couch/log/desktop-couch-replication.log

Also you can try the following to get some more information. Run the following commands in a Terminal.

 evolution --force-shutdown

/usr/lib/evolution/evolution-data-server-2.28

Then, start Evolution again and try to open again the CouchDB addressbook. If it fails, have a look at the output on the terminal, it should have some hints as to why it failed. Please post that here.

thank you,
duanedesign

After you attach the logs or comments you can change the 'Status' of your bug back to 'New'. The status of a bug report can be modified by clicking on the current status in the yellow line, which will reveal a sub menu. You can then set a new status in the drop down box.

Changed in ubuntuone-client:
status: New → Incomplete

duanedesign,
Thanks for answer.

My situation is:
1. I have two machines: one is running Karmic and on the other I'm testing Lucid
2. On the machine with Karmic I synced contacts long time ago (following the steps from wiki)
3. I can see these contacts on https://one.ubuntu.com/contacts/
4. Now, on machine with Lucid I just checked Ubuntu One address book as default, I didn't add any contacts there. I was hoping that Evolution pull them from internet.

Now I'm on Karmic, later on I'll switch to Lucid and try commands you've mentioned.

duanedesign,

After:
  evolution --force-shutdown

/usr/lib/evolution/evolution-data-server-2.28

and starting Evolution I got in terminal:

impl_GNOME_Evolution_Addressbook_BookFactory_getBook
 + couchdb://127.0.0.1
 => 0x80e2660
impl_GNOME_Evolution_Addressbook_Book_open (0x80e2660)
in server_log_handler

** (process:10228): WARNING **: Could not get OAuth tokens from keyring: No matching results
in server_log_handler

** (process:10228): WARNING **: Could not create DesktopcouchSession object
Segmentation fault (core dumped)

After that, bug report appeared: "Sorry, the program "evolution-data-server-2.28" closed unexpectedly".
I've just reported this bug: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/evolution-data-server/+bug/562526 but it's marked as private.

~/.cache/desktop-couch/log/desktop-couch-replication.log attached.

Can you please run e-d-s under gdb, that is, on a terminal:

$ evolution --force-shutdown
$ gdb /usr/lib/evolution/evolution-data-server-2.28
(gdb) r

then (when you see a message about server up and running on the terminal) start Evolution from the menu and make e-d-s crash. When it crashes, you will get the (gdb) prompt again, so type there:

(gdb) thread apply all bt

and attach the output to this bug, please

Thanks for answer.
I'm attaching file "what_was_in_terminal.txt" which shows everything from "(gdb) r". When prompt: "---Type <return> to continue, or q <return> to quit---", I just pressed Enter.
