Show progress when saving files

Binary package hint: simple-scan

Simple scan does not show a progress bar when saving a large scan (for example, 10 pages) as a PDF. Instead, the UI just freezes. There needs to be some feedback to the user that something is happening.

in combination with Bug #599643 this is some sort of usability nightmare as the UI freeze for a long time just to post a cryptical error and the average user might think this app i very crappy, what it isn't is.

wouldn't an easy temporay solution be that the save button just opens a simple window (no progressbar, but an short text explanation) that then starts the conversion process and freezes the UI?

It could be enough to just change the "Save" text to "Saving..." and gray it out, but that would not be very consistent. Perhaps the dialog with some sort of moving bar, if progress meter is not possible, could be enough.

Still a problem in 2.32 as saving also takes a long time with the new conversion logic and novice users will think the app is crashed or hangs.

Great that it's fixed now, but do you think this patch could be cherrypicked for the current precise package?
