Bug Description

It made sense for 0.2.x versions to start hidden because it was a panel applet: once added to the GNOME panel, it started automatically, and when you needed to activate an alarm, you had to click the applet icon.

Now, with 0.3.x being a standalone application, it no longer makes sense to start hidden. Starting the application is a declaration of intent from the user: "I want to set up an alarm clock, and for this I want to see my alarms list". Why forcing him to do the additional step of double-clicking the notification icon to reveal the alarm list?

The alarms list window shouldn't be minimized when Alarm Clock is launched, it should be put to front.

I completely agree. The alarm list window should not be minimized when alarm-clock-applet is launched. However there should be an option to hide the window on startup as well when starting alarm-clock-applet automatically on login.

Maybe all these options aren't necessary after all:
- If option "start alarm-clock-applet automatically on login" is checked, then start minimized
- Else, start not minimized

This bug has been fixed in revision 188. Please test.

By default the alarms list window is shown when launching the application.
A command-line option --hidden has been added which will start the application without displaying the window.
The application will start --hidden when autostarted.

I would say that this new "feature" is a bug. I hate how now, after upgrading, alarm clock is starting as a window. I now have to close the window every time I log in, I don't need an extra step on login to have to perform. Please bring back the option to have it start to an icon only and not open a window.

I opened separate bug 690256
