Bug Description
Binary package hint: xorg
After following bug #554023, it was suggested I file this new bug for my issue.
Using a Lenovo ThinkPad X201s with latest lucid results in 100% reproducible problem where machine boots with no display, but is still running normally in the background.
STR:
1) Power-off machine while running on battery power
2) Power-on machine while plugged into AC
I obtained attached apport info by logging in blindly and generating via terminal and apport-cli.

In my system turns the screen black after grub menu. It takes about 20 sec. until anything happens and I am not sure whether the bootup runs normal. All in all bootup (grub menu until KDE Login takes 60 sec., the 8.04 kubuntu takes 45 sec.). Turning quiet and splash off does not fasten the bootup, but I see the a part of the kernel and system messages.
