Bug Description

Binary package hint: liblog4j1.2-java-doc

I attempted to install this package on my recent Ubuntu dapper drake stable environment, along with the liblog4j1.2-java package and some other Java-related packages.

The installation failed because it could not install file '/usr/share/doc/liblog4j1.2-java-doc/docs/.dhelp'. However, Synaptic Package Manager reported that the package was successfully installed, but without the file listed among the installed files. I checked and found that the directory '/usr/share/doc/liblog4j1.2-java-doc/docs' did not exist and was not listed among the installed files.

Therefore, I manually created the missing 'docs' directory with the same ownership and permissions as the adjacent directories. Then I told Synaptic to reinstall the package. It did so with no errors, and the '.dhelp' file was created along with many other directories and files.

However, the '.dhelp' file is not listed among the installed files and, of course, neither is the 'docs' directory.

Then I told Synaptic to uninstall the package, and it removed everything but the 'docs' directory (even the '.dhelp' file).

Finally, I told Synaptic to reinstall the package (with the 'docs' directory still present) and it did so without errors, and in full. However, neither the 'docs' directory nor the '.dhelp' file are listed among the installed files.
