isoinfo can't handle some large .iso's

Bug Description

isoinfo can handle some dvd images, but not others.
And it's not alone; volname and file can't handle the same images.
For instance, the discs for the games Assassin's Creed, Sims 3, and Star Wars: The Force Unleashed
all suffer from this. For these discs, isoinfo reports
CD-ROM is NOT in ISO 9660 format

I suppose that means they're in udf rather than iso9660.

I'm not aware of any way to retrieve volume names or file listings from these .iso's
without mounting them. Should isoinfo be extended to support udf, or
is there a similar command for udf?

libdvdread has a function DVDUDFVolumeInfo() which can retrieve the volume
name. Perhaps isoinfo (and/or volname) should use this function to handle udf volumes.

If the medium really does not carry a ISO-9660 based filesystem, then isoinfo is the wrong program.

In any other case, your problem is expected to be a result of the fact that Ubuntu does not distribute the real isoinfo command but a broken fork that has been created from a 6 year old cdrtools version. In all these cases, it is a wise idea to upgrade to recent original software:
