Bug Description

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-ati

Videos are tearing in VLC and mplayer no matter which video output I choose (I tried xv,xv textured video,gl). Higher bitrate = more tearing (1000kbps xvid: no tearing , 1500kbps x264: rare tearing, 5000kbps x264: lots of tearing).

I think that this bug is a duplicate of 514245 (https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-ati/+bug/514245) because if I boot with UMS the tearing is gone.

Lollerke, Ubuntu 10.04 Desktop reached EOL on May 9, 2013. For more on this, please see https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Releases.

If this is reproducible in a supported release, could you please provide the full computer model as noted on the sticker of the computer itself (not from the Bug Description)?
