10.04 beta 2 has this issue - all I did was click the "letter" icon in the upper Right side of toolbar, and chose "set up broadcast account" - tried this because I have no idea what a broadcast account is and wanted to see what would happen. A crash happened. :(

In my case it only append at the first launch from the "notification applet" (untested with standart launch...)
