Bug Description

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-input-synaptics

The touchpad on my MSI CR500 is only being detected as a normal mouse. Mouse function and touchpad clicking are working, but there is no Touchpad tab in System > Preferences > Mouse.

I am running Ubuntu 9.10 Karmic Koala with the proprietry Nvidia graphics drivers. The problem is present on both my present install with the Nvidia drivers and on booting from the Ubuntu 9.10 livecd.

Hi Jack

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to look at all reported bugs in a timely manner. I have seen your devices file. The bug is in the kernel because it isn't reporting your touchpad correctly. There have been many changes in Ubuntu since that time you reported the bug and your problem may have been fixed with some of the updates. If you could test the current Ubuntu stable release(maverick ubuntu 10.10), this would help us a lot.
