Bug Description

Binary package hint: compiz

Description: Ubuntu lucid (development branch)
Release: 10.04

Warns about "No GLXFBConfig for depth 32"
When doing a compiz --replace --debug it cannot find /usr/lib/compiz/libcore.so (which is not in the directory /usr/lib/compiz/)

NVIDIA Quadro 320M NVS
ADDARGGLXVisuals or any other settings in xorg.conf doesn't have an influence
Removing ~/.gconf/apps/compiz also doesn't solve it

The same happened with Karmic after a kernel update.

Those debug messages are normal, the missing GLXFBConfig is going to be a driver or configuration problem.

affects: compiz (Ubuntu) → nvidia-graphics-drivers (Ubuntu)

Can you please run apport-collect 556426 to attach the logs we'll need to help troubleshoot this problem to the bug report? I'm guessing you installed nvidia-current via apt-get and not jockey and the GL stuff was not set up properly because of that.

Hi Robert
Thanks, I did the apport-collect 556426 but the site gets stuck at the "Almost finished ..." mark. I think it is the apt-get. A few months ago I did tried to install the 195 drivers (better vdpau support) from a ppa. After a kernel upgrade things went sour. The uninstallation of that packages, removal of the source in /etc/sources.list and dist-upgrade to Lucid obviously did not work.

Any way for me to revert it to stock settings?

Did a fresh format + reinstall of Lucid. Installed "nvidia-current" from the third party driver installer jockey. Still the same problem.

I added
Option "AddARGBGLXVisuals" "True"

to my xorg.conf file. No improvement but there was a change though. compiz --replace --debug & gives out this debug:

(gtk-window-decorator:1774): metacity-CRITICAL **: meta_frame_style_draw_with_style: assertion `style_gtk->colormap == gdk_drawable_get_colormap (drawable)' failed

(gtk-window-decorator:1774): Gdk-WARNING **: Using Cairo rendering requires the drawable argument to
have a specified colormap. All windows have a colormap,
however, pixmaps only have colormap by default if they
were created with a non-NULL window argument. Otherwise
a colormap must be set on them with gdk_drawable_set_colormap

This keeps on repeating between the CRITICAL part and the WARNING part

Today (April 07)'s nvidia-modalias and jockey updates seemed to have fixed it.
