Bug Description

Binary package hint: firefox

As the title states, I am able to connect to my Wireless network, but it only stays connected for a few minutes. When it disconnects, ubuntu occasionally alerts me that there is a serious kernel problem/error. I attempt to report it, but lo-and-behold, I have no internet to report it! I am running Ubuntu lucid (development branch). As this 'seems' to be a kernel error and not a network-manager problem, there's no package version. The kernel I am using, however, is 2.6.32-19-generic. I expected to surf the internet and review the new 10.04, but I cannot connect for more than 5 minutes at most (if I'm lucky!). And I know that it is not an adapter issue as I have an identical one working on an arch linux machine. I have also swapped the adapters between the machines, and the adapter on the ubuntu machine now works fine.

And it is not a firefox problem, as I cannot do 'ping -c 3 google.com' but I can 'ping -c 3 192.168.1.1' for the router (on occasion)

Could you please run the command "apport-collect 556027", This will upload your kernel log and other useful information about your problem. Thank you!

Hi Alex,

This bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? Can you try with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO CD images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/ .

If it remains an issue, could you run the following command from a Terminal (Applications->Accessories->Terminal). It will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report.

apport-collect -p linux 556027

Also, if you could test the latest upstream kernel available that would be great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream-testing' tag. This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon next to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description and deleting the 'needs-upstream-testing' text. Please let us know your results.

Thanks in advance.
