Bug Description

I had been using terminator-0.14 for quite some time. After a recent Gentoo Linux ~amd64 update to gnome-terminal-2.30.0, all versions of terminator (0.14, 0.90, 0.91) crash silently when splitting the window horizontally or vertically, either with right-click menu or keyboard shortcut.

Reading comments in similar bugs, I started terminator from a gnome-terminal to watch output on crash. There is no output on crash. The following output appears when starting terminator:

~ $ terminator
/usr/lib64/python2.6/site-packages/terminatorlib/terminator.py:215: GtkWarning: gtk_window_resize: assertion `width > 0' failed
  window.resize(int(parts[0]), int(parts[1]))

I'm using the window manager 'awesome', if that has anything to do with the outupt. However, it doesn't seem to be the bug

gnome-terminal-2.30.0 can add new tabs normally, but I suspect this is not the mechanism terminator uses when splitting a window.

My apologies, but I cannot downgrade to earlier versions gnome-terminal-2.29.92 or gnome-terminal-2.28.2 to confirm the regression is limited to gnome-terminal-2.30.0. The former is removed from the ebuild tree, and the latter won't compile against the currently installed libraries.

Thanks.

This should be fixed in trunk, revision 965.

Just updated to vte 0.24.0-2.
Restarted Terminator and so far, it is working correctly.
Thanks!
