Bug Description

Binary package hint: evolution

I set up a filter to sort mailing list messages into the correct folder. This was quite easy, but now I still have dozens of messages sitting in my inbox that need sorted. Choosing apply filters only filters the currently selected message, even if I select all messages, so I have to manually apply filters 80 times to get my full inbox sorted.

That works fine for me here, selecting messages and doing ctrl+y apply all the filters and not to a single message, may you tell us which filter are you using? and which release of Ubuntu are you running? Thanks.

Please answer the rest of the questions there. We need to know which filter are you using to try to recreate the issue locally, but you can always send this upstream directly to bugzilla.gnome.org if that sounds better to you. thanks.

What do you mean which filter? The one I created.

I think the cause of this is that evolution was only fetching basic headers from the imap server. For the message I was looking at, it had the whole message, including the mailing list headers, so it could be filtered, but all other messages only had the basic headers cached locally.

It seems like an upstream bug should be filed about this. If you try to use headers in a filter that are not being fetched, it should either set them to be fetched, or warn you that this filter will not work unless you set those headers to be fetched.
