Bug Description

Binary package hint: totem

On first load of Totem - When I bring up the volume control for a second time it appears off the screen, in windowed mode,
just the 'minus' is off the screen, in full screen mode half of the graphical slider is off the screen.

If I try to adjust the slider it reacts as if the graphic is where it is supposed to be, e.g. the slider will move down if i click where i see the slider bar to be as Totem believes I am clicking below the current slider position. If I move up to where the slider bar would be if the graphic had been positioned correctly, I can click/hold and drag the bar up/down as if the mouse was on top of the bar.

If I go back out of full screen mode the slider in windowed mode now draws in the correct position and the same for full screen mode.

I had to use recordMyDesktop and take a screenshot while it was playing back, as ubuntu wouldnt let me take a screenshot using printscreen while the volume control was active.

On each you can see that the volume bar is slightly off screen.

I have moved the mouse pointer to the left while dragging the volume bar up and down to clearly show how much the volume control is drawn below where it should be. The + sign is missing in the full screen picture because of the recording, but it is actually there.

I have also discovered that the 'maximized window mode' problem only occurs if i have the default panel or no panel on the bottom of the screen. If i have another program eg. Avant Window Navigator bar there, the bar draws correctly every time.

Everything else is still the same as described above.

Hope its okay.

I've noticed this problem in 10.04 and 10.10. Screenshot attached as example.

I can cause the problem to recur by following these steps:

1) Open a movie
2) Change to fullscreen
3) Open volume slider
4) Close the volume slider (by clicking somewhere else)
5) Open the volume slider

It is now halfway hidden below the screen and the only way to get it back is to escape out of fullscreen first.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. The issue that you reported is one that should be reproducible with the live environment of the Desktop CD of the development release - Oneiric Ocelot. It would help us greatly if you could test with it so we can work on getting it fixed in the next release of Ubuntu. You can find out more about the development release at http://www.ubuntu.com/testing/ . Thanks again and we appreciate your help.
