Can not install xinit due to Xsession.5.gz being also in x11-common

Bug Description

Fresh kubuntu-desktop install reports:

Unpacking xinit (from .../xinit_1.0.2-0ubuntu1_i386.deb) ...
dpkg: error processing /var/cache/apt/archives/xinit_1.0.2-0ubuntu1_i386.deb (--unpack):
 trying to overwrite `/usr/share/man/man5/Xsession.5.gz', which is also in package x11-common
Errors were encountered while processing:
 /var/cache/apt/archives/xinit_1.0.2-0ubuntu1_i386.deb
E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)

I can confirm this, on an upgrade from dapper to edgy.
The upgrade is as consequence not possible.

Thanks for the bug report! Fixed xinit was uploaded moments ago:

 xinit (1.0.2-0ubuntu2) edgy; urgency=low
 .
   * Removed debian/xsession/Xsession.d from list of files directories
     installed (funny part is - this directory was already present on our
     previous package, but "magically" was not installed)
   * Removed debian/xsession/Xsession.5 from list of manpages installed

Changed in xinit:
status: Unconfirmed → Fix Released

Hi Rodrigo,

the next Problem is Xseesion.options.5.gz which is also in package x11-common.
xinit (1.0.2-0ubuntu2) donsn't work, sorry.
