Thinkpad T500 mute button now toggles in Lucid

In Lucid beta the mute button now toggles instead of forcing sound off. I think it was a deliberate design choice that it always forced sound off; on Thinkpads, it always forces sound off in Windows too, I believe, and even before the OS boots e.g. the power-on beep. It makes it easy to "double check" that sound is off (by just pressing Mute, you know it's off).
It's easy to turn sound back on by pressing volume keys.

This bug did not have a package associated with it, which is important for ensuring that it gets looked at by the proper developers. Personally, I prefer the mute button to be a toggle. This doesn't seem like a bug but a design change.

I think I have the same problem on my Thinkpad T510. When I mute sound using the ubuntu controls, the light on the mute button does not turn off.
